HIPAA Explained
🛡️ What is HIPAA and Why Does It Matter?
At our practice, your family’s privacy is a top priority. That’s why we follow HIPAA – a law that protects your personal health information.
📋 In Simple Terms:
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) means:
Your child’s medical records are private.
We won’t share information unless you say it’s okay – or it’s needed for your child’s care.
You have the right to see your records and request changes if something doesn’t look right.
We store your information securely, whether it’s on paper or in a computer.
✅ When We Can Share Info:
We may share your child’s health information with:
Other doctors or specialists involved in your child’s care
Your insurance company (to help with billing and coverage)
In emergencies – if it helps keep your child safe
🚫 What We Don’t Do:
We never talk about your child’s health in public places
We don’t give info to friends, schools, or family members without your documented permission on file
We don’t post anything about our patients online
If you ever have questions about how your information is used or shared, just ask! We’re here to help you feel safe and informed — every step of the way.
